I wish to thank Arabworldbooks for selecting for the readers club ‘The American Empire and the raid on Iraq’ a new book by Mohamed Hassanein Heikal. The book is brilliant and highly illuminating and arrestingly readable political analysis of the thinking of the current American Regime in charge of Washington. This is what we are used to expect from Mr Heikal. However it is an insult to our intelligence to call the killing of over a million of our Iraqi people and starving the living ‘a raid‘. It is a naked, unprovoked and bloody imperialist war of aggression followed by a barbaric occupation of Baghdad and the whole country. The Iraqis lake the basic amenities of life: clean water, rubbish collection, electricity, a police force to protect the general public etc.. Of course, all of these services and more has existed before the war. Was there an effort on the part of Mr Heilal to demonstrate to the mind of the Arab reader some sort of affinities between radical Islamist thought and the post cold war thinking in the West? I do not think a proof is needed to show how our daily lives are influenced by the American way. Unfortunately Mr Heikal is more than shy when it comes to talking about the subservient nature of Arab politics. As an Arab living in the West I am extremely ashamed and embarrassed by the unethical and often cowardly actions of our Arab Leaders, all of them. Are the Arab people entitled to fight for a just and fair share in their wealth? I don’t see our young men blowing themselves up just for a place in Paradise. These are intelligent young people who hurdle themselves into prisons or worst in order to overcome their own sufferings. These are very bleak times and it falls upon our enlightened intellectuals to dig behind the rumours and speculations, and candidly assess the performance in office of each of our leaders.

الامريكية في هذه الأيام بعد أن اصبح الغزو الأمريكي للجسد العربي حقيقة ثابتة لا يمكن تجاهلها استكمالا للغزو الصهيوني يتزايد الكلام حول الرؤية الأمريكية للشرق الأوسط الجديد، وفي حين لايمكن انكار احتياج المنطقة العربية الملح للتحرر من طغيان حكامها واستبدادهم الى أن الرؤية الأمريكية للشرق الأوسط الجديد لا تعدو كونها ورقة التوت التي ابتدعتها الامبراطورية الأمريكية لتغطي على حقيقة أهدافها ونواياها الاستعمارية التوسعية. title:

الامريكية commentsهيكل أستاذ كبير صاحب خبرة واسعة وفهم عميق لبواطن اأمور يرصد في هذا الكتاب تحول أمريكا الى القوة العظمى الوحيدة في العالم وكيف ان هذا التحول تم من خلال تزوج المال والسلاح، وفي هذا الصراع المرير الذي خاضته أمريكا لفرض سلطانها كانت الأفكار احدى الأدوات الرئيسية التي لم تتردد في استخدامها عن حق وعن باطل، المهم أن الكتاب اختيار موفق جديد للمنتدى جاء في توقيت حرج وحساس من تاريخناا لمعاصر ليدق ناقوس الخطر title: أحزان حمورابي commentsجيد title: Hamorabi's Sorrows I have not read the book. I am sure it is interesting, beautiful and touching, and plan to read it soon. But I would just like to take this opportunity to remind my arab friends that the Arab world, and in general the Islamic faith and culture are today one of the last remaining bastions which still manage, with much suffering and angst, to resist the American/Western cultural and material onslaught. May this continue; may they find the constancy to resist until the tide changes. For it will, one day, surely. title:

Hamorabi's sorrows title: أحزان حمورابي title: Hamorabi's Sorrows I agree with Borhan Riad that ‘Hamorabi's Sorrows’ is an excellent selection of poems from all over the Arab world and they are not necessarily about the occupation of Iraq. The dire state under which all of our countries suffer only allows our intellectuals the weeping over ruins. The Arab as people mistrust the loyalty of their leaders to the Arab causes. It does not escape the notice that whilst our deadly enemies are bringing destruction and death to the Iraqi and Palestinian peoples, our most Arabic leaders are active participants in the enemies war effort. It is a sad fact nowadays if an Arab thinker wrote in defence of our peoples’ values and history he/she is immediately called terrorists. Our well-being is second to the Western economic stability. title: Hamorabi's Sorrows I agree that this is an excellent selection from different schools of Arabic poetry that are unified by the national challenges facing the Arab World today. However it is difficult to avoid reaching the conclusion that Arab culture is characterized by the tendency to weep over ruins . These poems are not only filled with anger at the agressors and criticism of the arab world’s despotic rulers , but go beyond this to spread a feeling of general helplessness and frustration. What better example can I give than the poet Mohamed Saleh asking the American general to hold back his advance on Baghdad until the poets are finished with their compositions. Isn’t it time we took a more activist role? title: أحزان حمورابي قصائد للعراق أعتقد ان القضية تتعدى شعور المهانة تحت وطأة الاستعمار الخارجي حيث أن السبب الحقيقي في لوم الذات يعود الى حالة الضعف الشديدة التي نمر بهاوالتي تفرضها علينا اوضاعنا السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية فماأبلغ شعبان يوسف حين يقول " ألعن كل جبابرة الكون كل صباح" فالأمر في مجمله يبعث على الخجل title: احزان حمورابي يصف الشاعر عبد الرحمن الأبنودي العالم العربي بهذا البيت الجميل المفجع " ما أظنش اللي شبهنا تجوز لهم الرحمة" وفي حين اشارك أمتي وشعراءها الشعور بالفجيعة فأنني أتساءل ألم نذهب بهذه المشاعر الىمايتعدىالنقد الذاتي الصحي وبمايصل الىمرتبة كره الذات او التقليل من شأنها؟ title: احزان حمورابي احزان حمورابي يضم مجموعة من أجمل الأشعار تتناول في جوهرها أزمة الوطن، وترد في الواقع على الذين يشككون في وجود شعور قومي غامر يجمع ما بين العرب فرغم قسوة المحنة وعمق الجرح يبرهن هذا الكتاب على أننا ننزف معا ونبكي معا ونغضب معا ، وان كانت الرسالة الغالبة هي رسالة اليأس title: روايه طفل شقى اسمه عنتر هى رواية رائعة اعجبتنى لغتها كثيرا كما ان عنوانها سلس وغير معقد وشخصياتها نراها بيننا وقد جعلنا الكاتب نعايش احداثها دون ملل تحمل الكثير من التشويق وارى السر فى ان الرواية رائعة هو كما قلت اللغة التى تحتاج فقط لمن يجيد استخدامها وايضا تسلسل احداثها وشخصياتها التى لم تهبط علينا من السماء بل هى موجودة بيننا ولغتها العامية البسيطة فلغة الكتابة هى كمانعلم الفصحى والكاتب يمتلك التحكم فى ادواته جيدا والروايه تحمل فى ثناياها اضافة الى بناءها المحكم رسالة يوجهها الكاتب الى القارئ واعتقد ان كل قارئ للرواية سيفهم الرسالة بطريقة تختلف عن الاخر وكما تثير الرواية التساؤل اثناء قراءتها تجعلنا ايضا نتساءل بعد قراءتها وماذا بعد هل نقرا قريبا عملا جديدا للاستاذ توفيق اننا ننتظر ذلك title: طفل شقي اسمه عنتر الرواية استطاعت ان تضع لنا شريحه طولية لمجتمعنا تحت المجهر . او لنقل وضعتها امام المحاكمه ربما كي نحاكم انفسنا وليبحث كل منا عن نفسه . من انا من بين هذه الشخصيات . وماذا اريد من بين كل الاحلام التي دارت في سماء الرواية . شملت المحاكمه الماضي والخاضر ولكن اكثر ما يخيفني انها حكمت على المستقبل في صورة عنتر الذي شارك في طابور السقوط المريع للمجتمع . ان القصة بالرغم من تفرعها وتشعبها بين الشخصيات الا ان هناك ترابطا سلس ولزيز بين كل الشخصيات ربما . ولكن يدور سؤال في زهني بعد قرائة تللك الرواية . هل حقيقي ن جميعنا بهذا القبح . وان المستقبل قد يحملنا في نفس الطابور المقيت الذى هوى في لنهاية ؟ تحياتي مصطفى علي title: A Naughty boy called Antar Reading ‘A Naughty boy called Antar’ a novel by Mohamed Tawfik I was looking for images of reality. Real Egyptian lives depicted explicitly and shockingly with a circumstantial intimacy that is at least factual. But the narrative unfortunately takes unrealistic liberties and still it was quite unable to supply reality. Mohamed Tawfik’s novel is an attempt to write a western style ghost fantasy with characters borrowed from the nineteen fifties Egyptian films. The author’s manipulation of time, slowing it down in the third personal for the first half of the work, then suddenly he speeds things up in the present singular for no apparent reason other his need to finish his story. Did the narrative overwhelm him? I was unable to feel sympathy with any of the characters perhaps aside from Adbelmalak. I wonder if he was a self-parody title: 'طفل شقي أسمه عنتر أستمتعت بقرأة الرواية كلها في يوم واحد وهذا لا يحدث معي كثيرا الا اذا كانت الرواية جميلةجدا وتشد القارءى بقوة رواية شيقة جدا بها كثير من الشخصيات المميزة بس مش فاهمة سبب أسم القصة ليه ؟ منى title: Naughty Boy يكشف محمد توفيق الفساد والزيف في مجتمعنا بهدوء لا يكل وباصرار خافت يكاد أن يكون غير ملموس فهو لا يدين ولا يتخذ موقف طرف في مقابل طرف اخر انما لايقبل في الوقت ذاته أي تورية أو اخفاء للحقائق title: Naughty Boy called Antar This is a complex multi-layered novel. M.Tawfik makes use of the breathless pace of a thriller to push ahead a social political and sometimes spiritual novel. But I specially enjoyed the author's frivolent defense of women's rights against male chauvinism. Without overstating his case, he brings down one by one the arguments men use to dominate women and deny them their basic rights. title: طفل شقي اسمه عنتر استمتعت بالرواية لكن بصراحة متلخبطة من شئ لو مممكن احد القراء يوضحه لي هل هناك عفاريت بالفعل ولا مجرد الاعيب الدكتور عبد الملاك title: طفل شقي الشاويش أشموني شخصية مثيرة حقا ، فمن ناحية يجد نفسه حائرا بين زوجتيه ، لا يجد السعادة في أحضان أيتهما ، أو كما يردد لنفسه عن قدره "إن وجد الطبيخ لا يجد الملح وإن وجد الملح لا يجد الخبز" ، فمأساة الشاويش هي مأساة الإنسان في كل زمان ومكان ، لا يكف عن البحث عن السعادة لكنه لن يجدها أبدا . ومن جهة أخرى يؤنبه ضميره تأنيبا شديدا على سكوته على الجريمة ، وعندما يجد نفس الشاب ابن الملياردير يحوم حول أخت القتيلة الصغيرة تتعاظم أزمته ، فهل يتستر على جريمة جديدة أم يفعل شيئا لنجدة الفتاة البريئة رغم أنه سيخاطر عندئذ بحياته ؟ فالمجتمع الذي يقهر المواطن العادي ويستغله أسوأ استغلال ، يأتي في وقت الأزمة ويستمرئه ويطالبه بأن يهب ويخاطر بحياته دفاعا عن سلامة المجتمع وأمنه ، وهنا يطرح المؤلف سؤالا لا يخلو من الأهمية ، هل نتوقع من هذا المواطن القيام بواجبه دفاعا عن مكتسبات غيره أم يستمر في سلوكه المعتاد غير المعني سوى باحتياجاته الذاتية الضيقة ؟ ويسوق المؤلف - كنموذج عملي للقضية التي يطرحها - الدور المتناقض للشاويش نفسه في كل من حربي 67 و 73 . title: رواية طفل شقي رواية طفل شقي جميلة وغريبة في نفس الوقت ، فأعجبتني الشخصيات المأخوذة من أرض الواقع ، كما أعجبني السرد السريع المثير والأسلوب المبسط الذي يرتقي أحيانا لمستوى الشاعرية ، شكرا للمنتدى على اختياراته المتميزة | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
