The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
"The Metamorphosis" (original German title: "Die Verwandlung") is a short novel by Franz Kafka, first published in 1915. It is a worldwide classic and remains one of the most widely read works of fiction in the world. The story begins with a traveling salesman, Gregor Samsa, waking to find himself transformed into a monstrous insect. This hugely influential work inspired George Orwell, Albert Camus, Jorge Louis Borges, and Ray Bradbury, while continuing to unsettle millions of readers.
