THE PAST PRESENT is an eclectic mix of 21 stories with just some of the premises—Al Gore is Spartacus?—octogenarian love—leprechauns—the fate of a Haider fan ….

What they said:

The beautiful art of the short story:

This is a delightful volume of little stories ranging across what it's like to be an Australian both at home and abroad; a Jew in Europe, in Australia, then and now; what it's like to be a German with the war nearly upon you, or looking back to it from further on; to slide down rainbows with a leprechaun; to conduct a truly global love affair.
A great deal of interesting information (I was particularly keen to try the rainbow sliding) is combined with insightful treatment of emotion, human interaction and cultural expectations, to wring every last drop from each of these tiny stories.
They certainly punch way above their weight.
What a good idea to Kindle them for a British market. – Judi Moore

This volume of stories is global in scope. However, it is the depth of human emotions which makes it shine. From the suffering of rootlessness and alienation to the hope of re-kindling a staid relationship. This collection takes an intimate look at lives shaped by external circumstances and how individuals respond.
Each story is beautifully crafted and well worth reading. - Shirl
