Samboozies An Aesthetics of Junk

This book is based on Samia Mehrez's exhibition in Falaki Gallery, AUC Tahrir in 2022. It’s a lot of fun with many colorful images of her SamBoozies. It is a book of stories—a hybrid and interdisciplinary text that is genre-bending. It will engage several interconnected areas at once: junk art, urban sociology, cultural history, as well as personal experience and trajectory. The choice to write across genre allows for a richer, more open, polyphonic text that is in harmony with the art pieces themselves. On another level, this book is also a material, visual autobiography constructed out of personal junk.
