Venue: Online via Zoom
Date: September 24, 2022
The discussion of Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale took place on Saturday September 24th, 2022. You may now watch the episode here:
The Handmaid's Tale is a futuristic dystopian novel by Canadian author Margaret Atwood, published in 1985. It is set in a near-future where a strongly patriarchal, totalitarian regime known as the Republic of Gilead enforces rigid social roles and enslaves the few remaining fertile women. At once a scathing satire, an ominous warning, and a tour de force of narrative suspense.
The translation into Arabic is by Saudi translator Ahmed Al Ali in 2018.
The discussion will be conducted in Arabic and moderated by Egyptian novelist Mohamed Tawfik.
