The Future as conceived by Dystopian Fiction

A presentation on the prophecies included in the three novels that we have discussed in recent months (Brave New World, 1984 and The Handmaid’s Tale) took place on October 22, 2022. Watch the presentation and discussion
The three novels provide three different dystopian visions of catastrophic social and political orders in the future, with protagonists trying to survive or resisting State repression and technological and social control.
The presentation compares the prophecies or warnings inherent in each narrative, and the extent to which each prophecy has been fulfilled in our contemporary world.
The presentation is in Arabic and moderated by Arab World Books member Nahla Hanno.
