A Syrian writer, journalist, social activist, and feminist.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in French Language and Literature from the Faculty of Arts, University of Damascus, 1984.
She has worked for the United Nations since 1987 (UNRWA and later the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime).
She works with the Red Cross in Vienna, Austria, providing literacy programs for young Syrian refugees.
She is a founding member and president of the Arab Women's Association in Vienna, Austria.
She is the director and teacher at the Association's Arabic Language School.
She is a founding member and president of the "Balsam" project for Syrian refugees.
She is a founding member of the United Nations Arab Staff Association in Vienna, Austria.
She is a member of the Peace for Syria Movement.
She has contributed to social work in Damascus, Syria, by running literacy classes for four years, in addition to her work with women.
She lectures at various Austrian venues (schools, churches, NGOs, etc.) on the situation of Syrian refugees and on music as a means of building a unifying identity for Syrian refugees.
Awards:
- 2015: Recipient of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's Volunteer Work Award for the Balsam Project.
- 2016: Recipient of the UN Women's Award in Vienna, Austria, for the Balsam Project.
- 2017: Recipient of the UN Women's Award in New York, USA, for the Balsam Project.
- In addition to several awards presented to her by various NGOs in Vienna, Austria.
