Ezzedine Choukri

Ezzedine Choukri has a B.SC. in Political Science (Cairo University, 1987), a Diplôme international d’administration publique (ENA, Paris, 1992), an MA in International Relations (University of Ottawa, 1995), and a Ph.D. in Political Science (Université de Montréal, 1998).

He has published three novels: Ghorfet Al-Enaya Al-Morakazah (The Intensive Care Unit) (2008), Asfar Al-Faraeine (Sojourns of the Pharaohs) (1999) and Maqtal Fakheredine (The killing of Fakheredine) (1992).

In addition to these three novels, Ezzedine Choukri Fishere authored a number of studies, articles and opinion pieces, published in both scientific reviews and general newspapers. He also held various positions within the diplomatic and academic world. Currently, he is a "Visiting Distinguished Lecturer" at the political science department of the American University in Cairo. Previously, he worked as director of nternational Crisis Group's Arab-Israeli Project (November 2007-November 2008); Counselor for Middle East Peace Process and Regional Security in the cabinet of the Egyptian Foreign Minister (2005 – 2007); Special Advisor to the United Nations Mission In Sudan (2004 – 2005); Senior Political Advisor to United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (2001-2004), and other assignments on behalf of the United Nations' Secretary-General (2004-2005). He also held various posts within the Egyptian diplomatic service, and was a visiting lecturer at the University of Cairo, the American University in Cairo, the University of Montreal and the University of Ottawa (1992-1999).
