Samir Abdel Rabbo: An Egyptian writer and translator specializing in translating masterpieces of African literature into Arabic.

He was born in August 1950 and is a member of the Egyptian Writers Union. He has translated numerous books and novels by African authors, most notably: "Childhood Years" by Nigerian Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka; the short story collection "The Ruby" and the novel "The Vanishing Bourgeois World," both by South African Nobel laureate Nadine Gordimer; "Death in the Sun" by Tanzanian writer Peter Palango; "The Hunger Road" by Nigerian Booker Prize winner Ben Okri; and "The Arrow of God" by renowned Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe. He has also translated various short stories by a number of African authors, which he compiled in his book "Masterpieces of African Literature."

In 1991, a collection of his short stories, entitled “A Sky That Does Not Drink Tea,” was published, in addition to numerous articles and short stories in various Egyptian and Arab newspapers and magazines.
