- Born in Shibin El Kom, Menoufia Governorate.
- Graduated from the Faculty of Languages, Ain Shams University, majoring in Russian, and also studied English and Arabic.
- Joined Egyptian Radio in January 1977 as an announcer. He completed several specialized training courses at the Radio and Television Training Institute, including courses in radio writing and directing, dialogue, news editing, and Arabic language, taught by many prominent figures in radio, arts, and academia.
- Supervised the Russian section of the Hebrew program for several months before joining the newly established Youth Radio in late 1977 as an announcer and program presenter under the leadership of the pioneering broadcaster, Ehab Al-Azhari.
- Appointed Head of Announcers at Youth Radio in 1980, where he was responsible for supervising the on-air studio. In the mid-1980s, he was appointed Head of the Production Department and Supervisor of On-Air Announcers.
- Participated in presenting numerous programs and open segments. In 1981, Egyptian Radio sent him to Germany to cover the activities of the Egyptian-German Friendship Week. He worked for Egyptian Television as a presenter of children's, youth, and variety programs.
- He worked as a senior announcer in the Arabic section of Radio Japan in Tokyo between 1984 and 1988. He was responsible for editing and reading news bulletins, in addition to presenting a number of programs, news and cultural coverage, and conducting radio interviews. During this period, he also worked as a correspondent for Egyptian Radio in the Japanese capital.
- He joined Voice of America as an "international broadcaster" after passing the station's competition and traveled to Washington in October 1989. He worked as an announcer, editor, and translator, and was selected in 1996, following a competition, to present the first television program produced by the Arabic section, titled "Weekly Seminar."
He also presented several radio programs, including the daily news roundup "Around the World" and "New Horizons in Science." He covered visits by several heads of state from inside the White House and provided extensive news coverage from various states. He also served as editor-in-chief of bulletins in the Arabic newsroom.
He moved to Voice of America Television as a director and producer in the program translation department, eventually becoming head of the department. He then joined the documentary film production department as director of dubbing for programs and documentaries.
He translated and provided voice-over narration for numerous documentaries in both Japan and the United States, in addition to providing voice-over narration for some documentaries in Egypt.
He received several awards during his time at Voice of America, including an award for Best Radio News Report and a plaque of appreciation for his career achievements.
After retiring from his professional career in late 2023, he published his book "On Air: Cairo, Tokyo, Washington" in July 2025.
